EUROPAC MAPS OUT INVESTMENT PROGRAM
SPAIN/PORTUGAL
Europac has unveiled plans to splash out Euro 288 million ($383 million) on investments over the next four years. The scheme will comprise some additional capacity of containerboard and energy generation, both in Spain and Portugal.
Next year, the company intends to raise the capacity of PM 2 at its Dueftas mill in Spain by 30,000 tonnes/yr. The machine can currently produce 105,000 tonnes/yr of recycled containerboard.
In Portugal, Europac plans to boost the capacity of its Viana do Castelo kraftliner mill to 370,000-400,000 tonnes/yr during 2007-2009. The facility houses one machine, PM 1, which can churn out up to 285,000 tonnes/yr.
Europac estimates its container-board production will total 684,000 tonnes in 2011, compared to 549,000 tonnes last year, with sales rising from Euro 250 million to Euro 365 million.
On the energy side, the company plans to invest in more cogeneration capacity at both Duenas and Viana do Castelo. It aims to have another 30 MW of capacity at Duenas in 2009 and 30 MW at Viana do Castelo in 2009-2010.
