Zucamor zooms in on kraft mill in Argentina
Zucamor has acquired Argentina’s only virgin kraft paper producer, Papel Misionero. The takeover is part of a joint venture the company has set up with an Argentinean investment firm, BISA.
Papel Misionero produces kraftliner and kraft paper for multiwall sacks at its mill in the Misiones province, Argentina. The joint venture partners intend to invest heavily in the newly-acquired mill.
According to Gustavo Herrero, Zucamor’s managing director, the company aims to optimize the company’s pulp production and paper conversion operations at Papel Misionero. As a result of the proposed investments, the mill’s current capacity of 65,ooo tons/yr will increase to 85,000 tons/yr over the next two years.
Zucamor is an affiliate of the US company, Union Camp.
